About Melissa

Meliss Davis OylerMelissa has been telling others’ stories for years. As Assistant News Editor at The Herald newspaper in Rock Hill, SC, she has spent the better part of the last decade combining photography and the written word so that the story being told is more than just the sum of its parts.

For years Melissa joked that while designing for the newspaper is rewarding in many ways, the best of her work still ends up at the bottom of a hamster cage. So in early 2005, Melissa decided to start telling the stories of relationships and weddings. She made the transition from the hamster cage to the coffee table, and brides have never been happier.

Melissa received her bachelors degree in journalism from Winthrop University in 2000, and has won several design awards, including First Place for front page design, and the South Carolina Press Association’s 2005 “Best of the Best” award.
